The Beauty of Smoosh
Ok, so now I'm going to go all out and describe exactly what makes
Smoosh so beautiful, pure, and overall, just pretty darn amazing. A
lot of people probably know this, or have thought of this, but I've
never seen someone actually write it all down.
So first of all--they are definetly not fake, they aren't controlled
by an all powerful manager. They themselves have said that they
would stop playing music the minute it becomes not fun. (Not
meaning, like frustrated, but it actually losses its spirit, and it
becomes like a dreaded job). That is a mistake many young famous
people make--what's "enough" and "too much" and how do you know? I
think that if you have strict, clear, guidelines, that you will
figure this out. Smoosh is also just so fun and happy, and in no way
has their childhood been hindered by this musical experience or
adventure, but it has even been enhanced. It seems as thought they
are constantly smiling, and I can't help but grin when I see their
faces. And it makes them beautiful. Because if you have inner
beauty, it seriously shows on the outside. Their natural beauty
shows through, so they don't need excessive amounts of makeup or
hair-coloring to try and make them look pretty. People are WAY too
obsessed with weight and apperance these days. But it's sort of like
Smoosh is saying "you can take me like I am or not at all", you
know? So people don't like them for what they look like, (usually)
or at least thats not all of it. And of course they are super-
talented, that kind of goes without saying. But when society seems
to pressure you into being "perfect", at least their's one (and
hopefully more, even if I haven't heard of them) band out there who
can show us what's really important in life. (And of course they're
from SEATTLE, which, to me, is a big part of it)
Now I don't want to make out that Asy, Chloe, and Maia are saints or
anything, because they are far from it. They are normal
teenage/preteen girls who have their faults like the rest of us, and
live almost perfectly normal lives. In fact, what makes them so
normal is the lack of information revealed about their home life.
Their school, their last names, and exact living location is kept
from the general public. This enables the girls to live their lives,
and not be troubled by annoying paparazzi. Of course, the paparazzi
would hardly be bothered with Smoosh, because they're so positive,
and the paparazzi looks for signs of weakness. So I would just like
to thank these girls of Smoosh for an amazing 3 years so far of
listening to Smoosh music, and reading about the most AWESOME band
in the whole world!!!
Written by a Crayzee Monkey, who at this moment is feeling extremely
reflective (can you tell?) :-)
P.S. If you have actually bothered to read this and are affiliated
with Smoosh at all, do you have any idea of a tentative release date
of their next album? Probably not, but I am just so excited, I
really hope that it comes out before New Years.
P.S.S IN THE FALL IS THE BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!

The sun cast complicated shadows on the concrete pavement in front of an ordinary house in an ordinary neighborhood in the Emerald City. And in a typical backyard while jumping on their large trampoline, two teenagers were debating something. Their two younger sisters played happily on the swing set. Were they talking about a line of makeup? The newest fashion trend? Or perhaps the juiciest gossip that made the cover of all the glossy magazines? Or was it which songs they should play at their next rock concert? In today’s society, the chances that the last one would be the subject of a teen argument are next to zero. But that’s exactly what they were disagreeing about.
"I really want to play Gold at the next show, Asy." Said the taller of the two, her dirty blonde hair pulled into an untidy ponytail. "We haven’t played it in a while, and I kind of miss it. It’s fun to play on the drums."
"But I thought we were going to move forward, you know, play mostly new songs and only a couple old ones." Asy responded, her lighter and wavier hair flying all over her face. Though she was shorter than her sister by a tiny bit, she was really two years her senior. She wrote the songs and played the keyboards. "Plus, Chlo, I thought we were going to include Maia as much as possible, and she’s not in Gold." Asy paused jumping for a moment and tucked her hair behind her ears, and glanced over at the older of the two girls swinging. Maia, their 11-year-old edition to the band only recently joined, and she did not have a part to play for most of their previously written songs.
"Couldn’t we just make up a bass part for it then?" complained Chloe. "Like we did for Waiting for Something, you know?"
"It takes too long. It’s more interesting to play new songs." Asy gave Chloe a defiant expression, as if that settled the matter.
"You’re no fair." Chloe pouted. "Why is it always your way?"
"Well, I’m older, and wiser…" Asy joked, but Chloe did not see the humor behind the words and just glared at her sister in an annoyed manner.
"We’re a band. We work together. It’s supposed to be fun. Remember that?"
"Oh, every song we play is horrible except for Gold? It couldn’t possibly be fun if it is not that song?" Asy challenged her sister. Both had stopped jumping, though Maia and Scout, their 4-year old sister were still laughing and playing and didn’t notice the sudden change of emotion between the other two.
"No, but it’s supposed to be a democracy, and you get to choose most of the songs, so I should get to choose this one." Chloe replied.
"But I have perfectly good reasons for excluding it from the set list, and you’re not listening. Plus," she added, "You’re ruining the sunshine."
"What!" Chloe exclaimed, "So now I have control of the weather too, and I’m just that much of a drag?"
"No, but it’s Seattle, and it’s rarely sunny, and I don’t want to fight when it’s sunny. I want to eat donuts and go to the park."
"I’ll go to the park and eat donuts with you and stop arguing if you just include Gold on the set list." Chloe tried to compromise.
"No… I just don’t want to. I gave you reasons. They’re valid. I want to forget about it ‘cause it’s so sunny…"
"Then write a bass part…" Chloe crossed her arms over her chest.
"No, Chloe, there isn’t time." Asy said, exasperated.
"Ask Maia what she thinks."
"Fine." Asy turned to face her younger sister and shouted, "Maia, do you want to play Gold for our concert? You’d have to be excluded…" Maia looked at Asy and bounced over to her siblings, her hair braided and bangs falling in her eyes. Here eyes flitted back and forth between Chloe and Asy, a questioning expression on her face.
"I don’t care, why does it matter?" She paused for a moment and then said, "When the music is fun, does it
really matter?" She threw a big smile at Asy and Chloe, who also turned to each other and grinned.
"She’s right, you know." Chloe concluded with a sigh. "Let’s get donuts."
"Okay, and I’m sorry I was mad about such a trivial thing." Asy apologized. "Let’s get donuts." Within a few minutes four sets of feet could be seen jumping, skipping, and prancing through the complicated shadows on the concrete pavement in front of an ordinary house in an ordinary neighborhood in the Emerald City.
idk if this poster is still in the smooshfans group but the quote had
me laughing so hard my sides ached! I clicked on the email tab and
sent a private message to tthem asking for permission to put that
quote on Smoosh Files. If i never hear from them then I won't. But
should they answer back and say it is cool, I will. The quote is as
follows: Oh, and btw, I eat lots of mac and cheese and listen to
Nickelback too. Also everybody here knows I am an absolute Smoosh
worshiper! lol! see the message thread and read it all for the mac
and cheese/Nickelback reference to make complete sense.
"Nonetheless! I hereby proclaim to Spin magazine and mass culture in
general, that:
· Smoosh is better than any of the so-called musicians with
whom they were—ahem—"competing"
· Smoosh has been shown to promote free-trade zones in
emerging democratic nations
· Smoosh is better than those plastic cylinders on the end of
your shoe strings
· Smoosh increases birth weight in pygmy marsupials
· Smoosh is better than that head rush you get from laying
around on a Summer afternoon and then getting up suddenly
· Smoosh contains ribosomes
· 4 out of 5 dentists recommend Smoosh for their patients who
rock out
"I think we can make it through…"

Now, now. We love Smoosh not because they are popular; we love
them because
> they are excellent-lovely and fierce and melodic and profound. If
the
> unwashed masses don't get it, well-let them listen to Nickelback,
watch
> Jerry Springer and NASCAR, and eat macaroni and cheese."

I honestly can't find this poster's alias on

Hey guys, just wondering if you'd seen this photo of Smoosh that I
came across. It's from 2007, before their show at the High Dive when
they had a small segment on the Local Music Show with John Richards.
You can watch the video here (I think Smoosh are somewhere near the end):

This picture is an original work that was submitted on the original Smoosh Files website.
On that page I had a Dark Shine page and Dark Shine played in the background.... then I had arranged a medley of songs and I called it the "Never Was Song."
The
smooshfans very own pinkhalo09 submitted a cool picture after I had asked on smooshfans for a certain picture. The picture was to be Asy, Chloe, and Maia standing around a willow tree out in a field at night with a bright full moon illuminating the night sky. In the background is a wood framed farm house seen from the back. There is a window that is lit up by a candle or lantern.
Up closer, Asya is deftly pointing with outstretched left hand at the moon. Her right arm is at her right side.
Chloe is embracing the tree as if hugging it while listening intently to Asy with whatever she is saying. Just past the tree is Maia staring raptly at the full moon. It casts a glow on her face. Next to this field and to the right of the farm house is a dirt road. Just past the house is a lone figure of a man who appears to be carrying a book. He is walking on this dirt road just casually strolling and looking straight ahead.
From that description the young fan emailed me the pic below. Some people emailed me and asked what the meaning was. What was the book the man was carrying? Who was he supposed to be. The answer is as always. That is up to the viewer and their own personal interpretation.
From the picture I coined the phrase that I use as my tag line in email and in the messages on the smooshfans group.
"The dark shine promises great skies in the fall."
Anyone who cares to submit their intrepretation of the picture is welcome to.

Mine is below the picture
A full moon illuminates the great skies at night. Thus giving the landscape a dark shine. Three sisters are gathered around a willow tree bereft of its foliage. It is In The fall. The older sister is making promises to her younger sister as she hugs the tree intently listening. The youngest sister is captivated by the full moon almost hypnotised. On the road is a lone figure of a man carrying a mysterious book. Un noticed by the girls. Who is he? What is the book? That is anyone's guess.
